Writing workflow

Edit a draft to match your own writing style

Use short samples of your writing to make a new draft more consistent without copying another creator.

Start with these inputs

  • Two or three short samples you wrote or may reuse
  • A new draft
  • Audience and words or facts to preserve

Follow the workflow

  1. Choose short samples you own and remove any private information.
  2. Paste the samples and draft into a new ChatGPT chat.
  3. Review the style description before asking for a tighter second draft if needed.
  4. Check factual meaning and replace any phrasing that does not sound like you.

Your starting prompt

PERSONALIZE THE [BRACKETS] BEFORE USING
First describe the practical style traits in my own writing samples: sentence length, tone, use of examples, and level of formality.
Then edit the new draft using those traits. Keep the factual meaning and all figures unchanged. Do not copy entire phrases from the samples unless I explicitly mark them reusable. Do not imitate a named public figure or add personal experiences I did not provide.
Return the edited draft plus three notes explaining significant edits.

What the output could look like

Illustrative example, not a recorded test result.

Illustrative example using invented sample inputs: Style notes: short paragraphs, concrete examples, direct opening. Edited opening: Start with the question you need answered. Add the source material, then ask for a result you can check.
Review before you use it.
Use writing you own or have permission to reuse. Style matching is subjective and needs your review. Time is an approximate planning estimate, not a measured result. Free access has usage limits; features can vary by account.
